Astrology is more than just understanding your Sun sign; it is a complex system that offers insights into various aspects of life, including your career. For those deeply interested in astrology, exploring the nuances of your birth chart can reveal potential career paths that align with your inherent strengths and preferences. In this blog post, we’ll look at what career opportunities are open to you based on your birth chart, but we’ll do it using a technique I haven’t seen elsewhere. I might contradict some of the popular astrological recipes, but experience really proves the usefulness of the technique!
How to See Career in the Birth Chart?
When it comes to career opportunities, the 10th house will provide us with the most information. Some astrologers also examine the 6th house, which represents our daily routines, but for now, we will focus solely on the 10th house. It’s important to note that I am using the Placidus house system for this analysis, not the whole sign house system.

If you are curious what your rising sign reveals about the depths of your psyche and how it can become the key to your happiness, I recommend you read this article.

1st Career Indicator in the Birth Chart
First, we need to look at which sign the Midheaven (MC), or the cusp of the 10th house falls into, and also which sign continues into the 10th house. Generally, the 10th house spans 1-2 signs, but it can occasionally encompass up to 3 signs.
Let’s take a sample chart to see how this works in practice. This example chart was created on this website using randomly input data:

In the example chart, the MC falls into Cancer and then continues into Leo. These are the two signs we must examine closely. But we won’t stop there; the birth chart offers further information.
2nd Career Indicator in the Birth Chart
The second thing to examine is whether there are any planets in the 10th house. In this random chart, we find two planets in the 10th house: the Sun and Venus. These two planets are also career indicators in the chart.

3rd Career Indicator in the Birth Chart
Next, we need to look at the ruling planets of the signs found in the 10th house. Don’t worry, it’s not complicated — just follow along! In our example, we see Cancer and Leo in the 10th house.
Cancer is ruled by the Moon, and Leo is ruled by the Sun. Now, we need to examine the positions of these two ruling planets. To do this, we need to know the ruling planets of the signs and which house corresponds to each sign. The following diagram can help:

In our example chart, we see that the Moon is in the 5th house in Pisces, and the Sun is in the 10th house in Cancer. Additional career indicators are thus Pisces and the 5th house, which corresponds to Leo.

Additionally, the Sun in Cancer is in the 10th house, which is associated with Capricorn.

So, let’s list the career indicators:
- Cancer sign
- Leo sign
- Sun, which also relates to Leo
- Venus, ruling Taurus and Libra
- 5th house, because the Moon is there (linked to Leo, seen earlier as an indicator)
- Pisces sign, because the Moon is there
- Cancer sign, because the Sun is there (already noted)
- 10th house, because the Sun is there, associated to Capricorn
So we will examine the following signs for potential career paths:
- Cancer
- Leo
- Taurus
- Libra
- Pisces
- Capricorn
The individual whose birth chart we are analyzing is very likely to choose from professions associated with these signs throughout their life. Some people may tick off multiple options, while others might stick to just one.
Experience shows that this technique is highly accurate and aligns well with reality. This alone can provide information about the kind of work an individual might perform.

Career in the Birth Chart: The Zodiac Signs
Now let’s look at the specific careers related to each sign.
Aries Careers

Professions with a masculine nature typically belong here, such as police officer, firefighter, soldier, butcher, bouncer, surgeon. This sign can also signify leadership positions or jobs where the individual is in a controlling, initiating, or inventive role.
Jobs that involve frequent movement, where the person moves around a lot, or has hectic work processes also fall into this category. Those whose 10th house is associated with the Aries zodiac sign or the planet Mars will always require a certain degree of freedom and their own space in their work.
Taurus Careers

Jobs that contribute to the maintenance and growth of our bodies on a material level fall here. People working in hospitality, chefs, farmers, those working in accommodation, auto mechanics, bakers, food ingredient traders, interior decorators, or anything related to eating, housing, or clothing. Since the ruling planet of Taurus is Venus, music, dance, and fashion can also be included.

The Virgo archetype embodies a sort of “golden mean” energy, so those whose 10th house is associated with Virgo rarely work in leadership positions but are also not in the lowest positions. Jobs connected to service, assistance, or where a high degree of precision is required fall here. Office assistant, chemist, architect.
Libra Careers

Jobs associated with Libra are those that, if they disappeared from one day to the next, would not cause a huge problem, but our lives would be much less comfortable. Scorpio Careers

The Scorpio sign archetypally represents transformative energy. Moving from darkness to light. Archetypically, Scorpio is also about crime, so related professions can be illegal or semi-legal, ranging from the most physical to the most spiritual. Capricorn Careers

Many don’t mention it, but the more ascetic side of spirituality also belongs to Capricorn, which requires focus and distills the essence: yoga, meditation, and retreats.

Jobs that are helping or healing in nature belong to this sign. Work related to maintaining or restoring the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of others.
